New Incentives Attract Foreign Auto-Makers to Pakistan

Pakistan government will provide concessions to existing vehicle assemblers and the new German, south Korean and French automakers. These concessions will be additional concessions to those provided in the new auto policy 2016-2021 announced last year.

Tariff and tax concessions were announced in the auto-policy that was announced last year. Some of these were meant to provide relief to current Japanese automakers including Suzuki, Toyota, and Honda.

Government took these steps because demand for new and luxury vehicles is growing.

Meanwhile, State minister of Industries and Production, Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi said that government would support Pakistan based auto assembler and auto part manufacturers to increase their export and help them capture international market. He said this while inaugurating three day annual Pakistan auto show 2017.

Will Pakistan be able to bring other manufacturers in the country when Japanese automakers have monopoly in Pakistan’s auto-market? Will prices be lowered after the arrival of other big auto-manufactures?
