Toyota Considers Plans To Launch Small Cars A Compact SUV In India

For the sake of getting market leadership in India, the giant automaker Toyota is considering to launch the small cars and one of the fast growing segments of compact SUVs. Owing to the non-clear Indian Government policy about the import tariff and fuel, Toyota is adopting wait and watch strategy before taking a decision to launch hybrid cars or to setup the new diesel engine plant in India. Toyota also added that the deregulation of the diesel price is one of the major concerns of freezing our plans to establish diesel engine plants in the country.

Establishing a plant of diesel engine in India, will less the price of Toyota’s diesel car. The Managing Officer of Toyota Satoshi Ohiso stated that for making a big splash in India, it is required to bring more compact cars like hatchback. He also added that the Prius is the only hybrid car that we have launched in India and by 2015 the company will launch 18 hybrids globally. 5 among them will be the refreshes of the existing hybrid cars models. He said that the company sold 1.2 million hybrids over the globe since we launched the Prius in 1997 that has almost crossed five million units. Toyota is also having some definite plans to enter the booming compact SUV segment of the car market in India.
