In the fiscal year 2014-15, the company produced 880,887 vehicles domestically. The production figure was less than 1m for the first time in 20 years, Financial Times reported.

Christopher Richter, a senior analyst at CLSA in Tokyo, said, "The fact that production dipped below 900,000 was probably a bit sensitive with the Japanese government, because it feels that it has done a lot to support the auto industry."

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn expects the company's sales volume to increase 6.4% in China in the fiscal year 2015-16. Globally, it aims to sell 5.55m vehicles, compared with 5.3m units sold in the previous year. Additionally, the company expects to record net profit of JPY485bn (US$4bn) in the fiscal year 2015-16.
