The Dutch government’s sudden takeover of Nexperia, amid concerns over Chinese control via Wingtech, has disrupted global semiconductor flows and ignited alarm within the automotive supply chain. Nexperia supplies over 110 billion components annually, and its export restrictions from China have triggered warnings that European auto production could face serious disruptions.  

Automaker groups such as the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) and the U.S. Alliance for Automotive Innovation have flagged potential risks to output next month if replacement sourcing cannot be secured. The situation underscores Europe’s strategic dependence on Asian semiconductor supply.
