General Motors announced a $4 billion investment through 2027 to expand U.S. manufacturing of both gas‑powered and electric vehicles. This includes boosting output at Michigan’s Orion Assembly for SUVs and pickups, Factory ZERO for EVs like the Silverado EV, Fairfax for the Equinox and upcoming Bolt EV, and Spring Hill for Blazers and Cadillac EVs.
Analysts view the move as a strategic pivot: GM appears to be scaling back its ambition of an all‑EV lineup by 2035 in favor of traditional internal combustion engine production to offset tariff pressures and shifting market demand
