Major automakers are reporting a sharp rise in electric vehicle (EV) sales worldwide, driven by an expanding range of models, improved charging infrastructure, and growing consumer demand for sustainable transportation.

Leading the charge are EV giants Tesla and BYD, both of which posted record-breaking deliveries in the first quarter of 2025. Tesla's sales surged by 28% year-over-year, fueled by strong demand for its updated Model 3 and the newly launched Cybertruck. Meanwhile, China's BYD continues to dominate Asian and European markets, expanding its presence with competitively priced EVs.

Traditional automakers like Ford, General Motors, and Volkswagen are also benefiting from the EV boom. Ford’s F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E remain best-sellers in North America, while GM’s Ultium-based models, including the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq, have gained traction. Volkswagen, on the other hand, has seen strong European demand for its ID series vehicles.
