Michelin Launches the First High-Performance Tire Designed for Electric Vehicles

Michelin, has launched a new high-performance tire called the Pilot Sport EV which is specially designed for electric vehicles. The tires are the result of Michelin unique experience in Formula E racing. Michelin says that its new electric vehicle tires offer a 20% reduction in visible road noise, due to "AcousticTM technology", a specially developed polyurethane foam that reduces cabin noise. This type of foam is found in the tires on many Tesla vehicles to help reduce tire noise. Michelin claims the Pilot Sport EV tires offer excellent wear resistance in response to high torque and instant acceleration of electric sports cars. Some high-performance electric sedans, such as the Tesla Model S Performance, can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds, which can cause premature tire wear.
