AutoX Expands Robotaxi's Experiences to 4 New Cities in China

Chinese self-driving startup AutoX said it is preparing to expand to four more cities and will soon test its robotics technology with the Chrysler Pacifica minivan, the same vehicle used by Waymo, Alphabet's standalone arm, according to Reuters reports. The company has developed a self-leveling, full-stack, level 4 driving system called the "AI driver" that integrates all software and hardware components. The SAE Level-4 system is designed to operate without human intervention. AutoX self-driving cars are also "connected" and are supported by Shanghai's ultra-fast 5G technology (V2X), which allows each vehicle to communicate with road units (RSUs) and traffic lights. Other AutoX competitors include Pony.ai, which is also founded in Silicon Valley. The company is backed by a $ 400 million investment from Japan's Toyota Motor Corporation. And in May, Beijing authorities also granted Pony.ai permission to carry passengers in its automated robot.
