The Toyota Camry and Avalon will finally have an all-wheel drive

Toyota had to make changes to its global TNGA platform, as it was not originally expected that next-generation Camry and Avalon would offer full-wheel drive models. The multi-link rear suspension has been adapted, while the drive shaft is a modified version of the new Highlander 2020.

It was also necessary to modify the floor structure, install an electronic parking brake and change the shape of the fuel tank. The floor height of the boot and that of the rear seat, however, remain the same.

In the case of the Camry, the weight increases by 75 kg (165 pounds) compared to traction models.

Too bad for fans of the 301 horsepower V6, the all-wheel-drive will be available only with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces a maximum of 205 horsepower via an eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission.

In closing, Toyota Camry (LE, XLE, SE and XSE versions) and Avalon (Limited) all-wheel-drive models will be exclusive to North America. Moreover, there will be no changes in the equipment already proposed.
