Dubai Authority DEWA Extends Electric Vehicle Free Charging until December 2021
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Extends the free charging of the non-commercial vehicle for more two years. The initiative has been taken because of this facility was expiring at the end of this year, now will be extended until December 2021. Electric Vehicles users will continue to be able to charge their EV cars for free of cost.
DEWA Authority clarified that the extension is only given to those users which are registered to EV Green Charger initiative.
From the January .1. 2020 registered commercial users like government and semi-government and private organizations will be charged per kilowatt hour.
The DEWA was providing free charging from September .1. 2017 under the scheme of EV Green Charger Initiative to encourage the people to adopt environmental friendly electric vehicles in Dubai. This initiative has significantly increased the numbers of Electric Vehicles in Dubai, which will definitely aid in decreasing the level of CO2.
Due to the positive feedback of this initiative the DEWA decided to extend the free charging of Electric Vehicles for non commercial users until 31 December 2021. The Good feedback from these initiatives will encourages us to launch further projects.
The CEO of the DEWA Saeed Mohammad AL Tayer said our mission is to increase the maximum number of hybrid and Electric Vehicles to reduce emissions of carbon from the transport sector. The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy launched different strategies like Dubai Green Mobility 2030 and Dubai Carbon Abatement 2021 which helps them to counter the emission of carbon in ground transport which is the second largest greenhouse gas emitter in Dubai. These initiatives will increase the users of EV vehicles and ultimately it will help them to achieve their Goals.
