Robotaxi Startup AutoX now picks up passengers in autonomous vehicles without safe drivers
Autonomous driving developer AutoX has launched its commercial robotaxi service in China and the vehicle will be fully autonomous without an onboard safety driver, the company announced Thursday. AutoX was one of the first companies to operate a fleet of driverless public highway transportation. AutoX's fleet consists of a modified Chrysler Pacifica minivan, the same model used by Alphabet Waymo's autonomous driving division in the U.S. The service launched with a fleet of 25 self-driving vehicles in Shenzhen and five in other cities across the country.
