Time to Replace Your Car Tyres? 5 Signs to Watch Out For

Car Tyres

With the high speed on the roads, you need to be aware of the condition of your car tyres to stay safe. Having a flat tyre in the middle of the road can be dangerous. So, it is recommended to take note of the condition of the tyres.

Over the time, your car tyres start to wear and tear and signs start appearing that your tyres need replacement. Here are five signs you should watch out for:

  • Tyre Warning Light Turns On

Car tyre warning lights can help you take a decision. For those with newer spec car models, keeping the car's tyres in check is a bit easier due to the presence of low tyre pressure warning system. This system can be found often in such cars. If a ‘U’ sign with an exclamation mark appears on the indicator, it means that one of your tyre is under-inflated, and it is the root cause of a bigger problem.

  • Decreased Tyre Tread Depth

It is disappointing that low-pressure systems cannot detect deterioration in your tyre’s tread depth. The tyre depth melts away from the wear and tear that happens by use and tyre becomes flattered over time.  This results in the reduction of its traction control and leads to dangerous skidding over the road. Check the tyres regularly and it is recommended to replace them once they reach 3mm in depth to stay safe.

  • Cracks in The Sidewall Of Tyres

With the passage of time, your car tyres start showing visual signs of damage and you should look out for them. You may see cracks on the side of tyres. Air leaks can happen due to these cuts on tyres and these can even indicate a future tyre burst. If you have detected these signs take the tyres on a repair shop and think about getting them replaced as soon you can.

  • Blisters or Bulges

Over the time, your car tyres get aged and blisters, slits and bulges may start appearing on their exterior. These can cause leaks which will cause the tyres to deflate. Take it as another sign that tyre is wearing out and needs to be changed.

  • Unusual Vibration or Sound

By regularly driving a car you will probably know about the normal vibration of your car. Excessive vibration and aggressive humming of your tyres through your commute indicate that your tyres are nearing the end of their life.
